THE DESIGNERS
Studio Binturong is brought to you by Samantha and
Caitlin Vaz Tan, twin sisters and professional artists
based in Penang.
Together, they present a playful yet distinctive design vision
towards creating merchandise that reflects the rich natural
heritage of Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
THE MASTERMIND
The enterprise is guided by Justine Vaz,
the chief biodiversity nerd and an important bridge in
connecting our products with key conservation people,
initiatives and landscapes!

It could mean being knee-high in mud watching otters in Ulu Muda, cruising along the Kinabatangan,
or spending time in Taman Negara, Fraser’s Hill, or our backyard forest of Kota Damansara.
With Studio Binturong, we draw upon these personal experiences to bring you items that celebrate

Today, as a career conservationist, it is my privilege to
work on protecting areas of significance and working
with people and organizations dedicated to
safeguarding species and ecosystems.

up with my uber talented daughters to produce items
that honour Malaysia’s standing as one of the most
environmentally biodiverse countries
in the world!”

More than just merchandise!
GIVING BACK
A favourite food of the binturong is wild figs.
It is famously able to produce digestive enzymes that break down seeds for
successful germination, thereby enhancing forest regeneration.
Studio Binturong is committed to ensuring that our business supports our conservation ecosystem.
We intend to connect with conservation organisations, local communities, and other small businesses to ensure
that our products are available in locations where art and biodiversity are celebrated.
As a purpose-driven business, a percentage of our proceeds is pledged to
environmental education and conservation initiatives.

Studio Binturong is also a creative service open to
collaborations and partnerships that involve co-
creating products which can be used to raise
revenue for conservation organizations,
